ASN Lookup
Look up any 16-bit or 32-bit Autonomous System Number (such as AS55836 or AS9498) via the IANA RFC 9224 RDAP bootstrap registry to inspect its registered operator, status, and registration history.
Understanding ASN Registration vs. Live BGP Routing
An Autonomous System Number (ASN) is a globally unique identifier assigned to a network operator so its routers can exchange Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routes with other networks. In India, Autonomous System Numbers are delegated through APNIC and the Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers (IRINN).
This tool queries the authoritative Regional Internet Registry's autnum RDAP object. It shows who holds the ASN registration, administrative/technical entities, and when the record was registered or updated. Keep in mind that RIR registration records are distinct from live BGP routing table announcements: a single company may operate multiple ASNs for mobile, enterprise transit, and regional broadband networks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Concise answers verified against IANA, APNIC, and IETF protocol standards
What is an ASN (Autonomous System Number) in networking?
An Autonomous System Number (ASN) is a globally unique identifier assigned to a network operator (such as an ISP, cloud provider, or enterprise) so its routers can exchange Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routes on the internet.
How do I format an ASN query in the ASN Lookup tool?
You can enter the number with or without the AS prefix—for example, both AS55836 and 55836 resolve to the same 32-bit Autonomous System registration record.
Why does an ASN lookup fail for numbers like AS64512 or AS65000?
ASNs in the ranges 64512–65534 and 4200000000–4294967294 are reserved by RFC 6996 for private internal BGP routing and are not registered in public RIR RDAP databases.
